George Foreman GR82B George Jr. Rotisserie Review

George Foreman GR82B George Jr. Rotisserie
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've read different reviews about the bigger version of this one and also about the Ronco version. I only have experienced the Jr. version of rotisserie cooker. From what I've seen so far, this thing is fantastic. The first two days I used it, we cooked whole chickens. Just rubbed a little seasoning salts all over, and they tasted alot like grocery store rotisserie. Nice and juicy. quite nice. Clean up was really easy. The wife said she thought it would be alot harder to clean, but was pleasantly surprised that it was so easy. The next day I cleaned it, and she was right. It WAS easy to clean. The oven did get pretty hot, but so does my conventional oven, so proper precautions are required. I have many ideas for the use of this appliance, like hot dogs, italian sausages, ham, the list goes on and on. I have to say, this product seems to live up to it's claims. I also have the Lean Mean Grilling Machine, and I haven't been disappointed so far by Big George. I hope George keeps putting out quality products like these.

Tools of the Trade Belgique Hard-Anodized 10" & 12" Fry Pans Review

Tools of the Trade Belgique Hard-Anodized 10 and 12 Fry Pans
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I first purchased the 6 Quart Chefs pan a year ago. At that time I was looking for a sturdy Wok that I could stir fry my vegetables in. Used it for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at its performance! I had done some online research regarding what cookware was best and decided upon Belgique. This pan does not stick !!! Go figure ?? Everything slides literally out of these pans! I've owned (3) other sets of cookware over the years and NONE have performed as well as this line of cookware. If you cook daily, you know how important it is to have reliable and quality cookware. Do yourself a favor and get this cookware fast! You wont regret it !

Magneflux Boiler Plate 1800 Watt Induction Cooktop Review

Magneflux Boiler Plate 1800 Watt Induction Cooktop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just because this is 'Induction" does NOT mean it is as they say in their
"product features: your food heats faster and more evenly than by any other method - even twice as fast as gas cooktops!"
That is basically a false statement for a "1,800W induction".
A standard 20 year old gas range will boil 2 quarts of water faster than this induction hob will.
about 8 mins for the induction and about 7 mins for the gas.
If you are looking for fast induction cooking then you need to get a regular induction cook top with 3000W elements with power boost (basically draws the power from the other elements to add another 1000W).
Keep in mind that you will also need about 240v outlets with 10gauge wiring and 30-40amp fuses in your Kitchen to run an induction cooktop.
Not this one, but a regular induction cooktop.
If all you need is a portable cooktop that you can hook up outside next to your BBQ or anywhere else then this is great but its not like a regular induction cook top as far as speed of cooking.
You can also get this hob from Tuesday morning for $150

Myson Authentic Spanish Polished Steel Paella Pan, 17-Inch Review

Myson Authentic Spanish Polished Steel Paella Pan, 17-Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This 17 inch pan is a perfect fit for a full size Weber grill. I used it to cook for thirteen on Father's Day. We had plenty of food for all and one person even took some home to show her family. Since then, I have bought two others. A 12 inch pan for smaller groups here in MD, and a 13 1/2 one that I keep with family for when I visit KY. I use the 12 inch one on a small Weber grill. Each time the food was cooked perfectly.

GE Profile : PHB925SPSS 30 Freestanding Induction Range, 5 Cooking Zones, Convection, Self Clean Review

GE Profile : PHB925SPSS 30 Freestanding Induction Range, 5 Cooking Zones, Convection, Self Clean
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Powerful and fast is the best way I can describe the cooktop on GE's new Induction Range. It is so incredible it even surpassed all my expectations. It boils water so fast you don't even have time to get the food ready to go in before the lids rattling off the pot. Yet it heats so low that you can melt a large bar of chocolate directly in a pan without having to use a double boiler! It will have it melted and ready to use in 15 minutes, and you can leave it on for hours without worrying about it scorching. Now that's versatility! And the temperature change response time is instant. You can take that pot of boiling water with the lid rattling and reduce the heat to simmer, and the water instantly stops boiling and goes to a gentle simmer in a second. I don't mean in a few seconds. I mean right now! This thing blows gas away so bad it's not even funny. I've used both gas and electric, and gas being the closest contender doesn't even hold a candle to the power and speed of this induction cooktop. Now I can already hear the nay sayers out there saying no way, gas is the best. But seeing is believing. And this thing is truly amazing. That's not all though. It has even more tricks.
I use both cast iron and tri-ply stainless steel cookware on it. The stainless cookware gets used directly on the glass cooktop, but I'm afraid to use the cast iron on it for fear of scratching it. So I place a paper towel between the cast iron and the cooktop. You read correctly. I'm cooking on paper towels! Since the cooktop doesn't generate any heat at all, and the only heat the cooktop receives is the heat reflected back to the cooktop from the cooking utensil itself it doesn't get hot enough to ignite the paper towel. Then when I'm done cooking I use the paper towel to clean up the cooktop. This is a cinch because the cooktop doesn't get hot enough to burn anything on it anyway. Just a simple wipe with a damp paper towel or sponge and a quick sprits of window cleaner and the thing looks brand new again. I've found that a good streak free window cleaner works the best at keeping it looking new
The induction elements will make your cookware perform at the highest level it can. Since the utensil itself is the actual heating element instead of a wire coil or a ring of flame, there are absolutely no hot spots in the cooking utensil. As long as the utensil fits close to the size of the element circle, it will heat perfectly uniformly from edge to edge. The electro-magnetic energy field extends ½" beyond and above the element, so my 12" cast iron or stainless steel skillet heats perfectly edge to edge on the 11" element. And my 10 X 20" reversible cast iron grill/griddle works too despite the fact that the rim holds it about ¼" above the cooktop. It still fits within the range that the electro-magnetic field will respond to. And yes, I cook with it on top of paper towels since it is cast iron. It cooks very well spanned across the two 8" elements on the left side as long as you give it at least 15 minutes to warm up so the heat can spread out across it. The utensil size does not have to perfectly match the size of the element circle as the electro-magnet will automatically adjust to various sizes within a given range. And none of the element outside that range gets hot. Only the utensil gets hot. Think of it in the same way that a microwave gets only the food hot, the induction element gets only the cooking utensil hot. Not the food in the utensil or the cooktop itself, just the utensil. And in turn the heat of the utensil cooks the food that's in it just like it does on any other cooktop. It's just a microwave for your pots and pans! You can read all about how it works at this website: [...]. The 11" element can be used on a utensil with a bottom diameter as small as 7". The two 8" elements can go as small as 5 ¾", and the 6" as small as 4 ¾". You can also use a utensil larger than the element as well. I use a 14" cast iron pizza pan as a griddle on the 11" element and all but about the outer 1 ½" of the pan are evenly heated. The heat tapers off somewhat around the outer perimeter.
This thing is really built too. Weighing in at 240 pounds, it outweighs the Samsung induction range by 32 pounds and the Kenmore induction range by a whopping 50 pounds! We're talking impressive build quality here. The stainless steel is a very nice quality and is easy to keep looking good.
The control panel is a one piece glass touch panel with no knobs. It responds very well to touch and is easy to use. There is a slight learning curve since you're cooking by number instead of turning a knob. But I adapted quickly to it and don't even think about it anymore. There are 19 steps from low to high for each element. All 4 induction elements are high power and have a "boost" cycle that makes them quite capable of boiling a pot of water very quickly. There is also a fifth element that is a warming burner. It's a 120 watt electric radiant burner (not induction) with three settings, hi, med, and low. It is not designed to heat anything up, just to keep already hot things warm.
I haven't had much of a chance to use the oven yet, but from what little I've used it, it seems to work well. It has three heavy enamel coated racks that you can leave in the oven during self cleaning. That's a big plus because those big racks don't fit in the sink, so your only other option would be to wash them in the bathtub or take them outside. I've done it both ways with our old stove and neither is fun. So I'm happy I don't have to do that anymore with these. They also slide very easily in the oven too and there are six positions for them. This oven uses what is called True European Convection. Meaning that there is a third element around the fan itself. During convection cooking only this element is used and the fan blows and circulates heated air into the oven cavity. This particular system also reverses itself every 70 seconds which is supposed to aid greatly in the evenness of the temperature throughout the oven cavity. I have read that it works quite well so I can only assume great results when I really get a chance to use it. It also comes with a temperature probe that will come in quite handy when cooking whole birds, hams, and roasts. The convection fan is fairly quiet too. Much quieter than the one on my convection microwave. There's also a small fan in the cooktop that cycles on and off occasionally to keep the electronics in there cool. That too is very quiet and goes unnoticed quickly if even noticed at all. The kitchen has to be pretty quiet to hear it.
I have only had it a few weeks but so far I love it. The only problem I have had, if you can call it a problem, was trying to figure out a particular feature it has. If you own one of these or are going to buy one this may be of interest to you. If not interested, you may want to skip this and move on to the next paragraph. So here goes. I asked three different people at GE, the local rep, the email tech support, and the phone tech support and nobody had an answer for me, so I had to just figure it out myself. You see, the convection oven has a feature called "Convection Conversion". The user manual is written for many different models, but doesn't cover "convection conversion". It does however talk about "Auto Recipe Conversion" which is basically the same thing. They differ though in how the end result is executed. Both features when set to "on" are designed to automatically reduce the convection cooking temperature by 25 degrees since convection cooking is more efficient than conventional baking. This way you can just follow the standard temperature in a recipe, cook with convection and the temperature reduction is automatically taken care of for you. Sounds easy enough right? Well, according to the manual under "auto recipe conversion", (remember, there is no mention of "convection conversion") when you set say 350 deg and press start, you are supposed to see it say on the display, CON, 325 (the -25 deg thing) and then go to pre-heat. When it reaches 325 deg it will signal it's ready. But mine doesn't do that. If I set 350, there is no CON, 325. It just goes to pre-heat and signals it's ready at 350. So where's -25 deg's I'm supposed to be seeing? One GE rep said it was broken and wanted to schedule to have it fixed. I said no, I'll do some further checking myself before fixing something that may not be broke. The one at the store wasn't plugged in, so I couldn't see how that one worked either. So I decided to test it with my infrared thermometer since I don't have an oven thermometer to see if the actual temperature was 25 deg lower than indicated when convection conversion was set to on. Sure enough, with it set to 350 deg (and showing 350 deg on the display) it was actually 325 deg in the oven according to the infrared thermometer. When I turned the convection conversion off, the temp in the oven went all the way to 350 deg. Problem solved. And I prevented a repair man from tearing my new stove apart only to discover that it did the same exact thing again when he was done. Amazing that nobody at GE had the answer for me though. I guess this is a "new" feature that hasn't made it into the books yet, or anywhere else for that matter. Anyway, hopefully this has answered the question for someone else reading this that may be wondering the same thing too.
I am very happy I got this range. I had my heart set on getting the GE Café model because I really like the up-front controls and the pro look. But then I read the article in Consumer Reports on ranges and read about the induction cooktop. This induction range was about the same price as the GE Café model too. I had never even heard of induction before so I decided to do some research on it. Turns out induction has been around for about 30 years! In Europe, it out...Read more›

This product is very nice but the warning I read after I received it was the handles get hot. That would be a good thing to know before purchasing. I purchased a can of heat resistent paint dip and plan to dip the handles. This should solve my problem with holding them without a hot pad while camping, but it cost me additional $8 at home store. I may have chosen something with a wooden handle, but in the long run these will be more durable.

Pampered Chef Large Round Pizza Stone

I purchased this item about a year ago. Since then, I've made everything from pizza to cookies, to crossants, to whatever won't spill over, lol! It bakes up everything nice and crisp and without a burn even if I did let it go over a couple of minutes in the oven while tending to life. After you season them, they become stick-free and it doesn't take that long either. I usually season mine with those buttery dinner rolls you get in the refrigerator aisle at the store. I just spread them out and the kids have these buttery flat crispy bread that they like to put jam on :)
I've recently bought the deep dish baker and love baking chicken and pork chops in it. I'm really excited about the new covered baker that I waiting to arrive :) I love Pampered Chef Stoneware.

I just got this waffle iron the other day. I made waffles this morning and my kids lapped them up! I do wish they were bigger in size but to have all the characters on one is really great. The kids love picking out which ones they want and ate more then they normally would have eaten. I can't wait to try cooking other things in this like the brownies. I thought they cooked really fast if set on the high (4) setting. It is very easy to clean and love they include a little scoop to help put the batter into the character molds. Highly recommend for any Disney fan.

My family uses the butane stove a lot ... and I mean A LOT because my mom makes GREAT hot pot meals. We would have 2 on the table. We have tried electric (hot plates and glass top) but you couldn't control the heat very well. We have tried various other brands (Mr. Max and Stansport) but they would fail and you get inconsistent flame around the circular burner.
This Sterno is very solidly built and the flame is even all around. It costs a little bit more than the other one but it's definitely in the category of "you get what you pay for".

I bought this fan kit to keep the cabinet housing my home theater equipment from getting too hot. Upon opening the package and inspecting the components, I called CoolGuys because I thought I was missing a connector - my bad for not reading the instructions beforehand. They answered the call quickly and explained how the unit needed to be connected - so, no missing part. I assembled the kit in about 5 mins. All the materials seem to be sturdy and of good quality. Some posters here have complained about mounting holes not be properly aligned. I did not experience this at all. I installed it in my cabinet in another 5 mins. The fans are absolutely quiet - you can't even hear them at arm's length. Great product and excellent customer service. I definitely recommend this kit.

I bought the second 2 gloves because I am an artist who does hot glass kiln-work... namely, I work with extremely high heat. These are better than the gloves available through the glass distributors supposedly designed for high heat kiln work. I highly recommend these!

Vornado EH1-0028-06 DVH Digital Vortex Heater Review

Vornado EH1-0028-06 DVH Digital Vortex Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently moved into a house that had an exceptional heating system except in the master bedroom (probably due to a large French door). Didn't see the logic in heating the whole empty house just to keep one room warm, I started to look for a suitable heater. Upon some search, Vornado DVH surfaced as a viable option. Although pricier than other models, if it did what it claims to do (even warmth, quietness, safe to kids' touch, and good control) I thought the product would be ideal for my family needs.
While searching for the best price, I came to read the ratings by others on the Amazon site, and it was disturbing for me to see that there was a noticeable disparity among the raters (please look through the reviews and see for yourselves-5 to 1 star). But it sounded great at least for those who had them in working condition, so I decided to give it a try, knowing that there is a chance that I might get the bad apple.
Well, I have been using the unit for a while now and I have to tell you that it is worth MORE than its weight in gold!!! It is quite; temperature control is dead accurate; heating is impressively even throughout the room; and it really doesn't get hot at all to the touch; and even looks cool. I have occasional circuit breaker tripping when I use hair drier in the bathroom connected to the same room, but Vornado has not tripped the circuit not even once, even though I usually have it run at 78F when I use it (basically all night).
I'm sure others' claims on defective products are valid. But if you are unsure whether to give it a try because of those reviews like I was a few weeks ago, I strongly recommend you give this product a try. Even if you end up with a defective product like others claim, if you can get a good one after exchange (and get something like what I got), it is worth the trouble-and believe me I'm an extremely lazy person when it comes to product exchanges...
I only write this review because I wished that I had something like this to help my decision making. Hope it helps you.

Mr. Bar-B-Q Cast-Iron Ribbed Fajita Platter Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought two and they were better than I expected. The cast-iron pans are perfect for fajitas, but they also work great for a couple of hamburgers, bacon, veggies or anything else you'd like to "grill" on the stove (or on a real grill) when you don't need big, round, cast-iron pan. The top varnish on the wooden pan-holders quickly gets toasted, but that's part of it's charm, it goes with the cast iron. The little pot-holders for the handles are great for the table, but a larger mitt is safer while grilling. NOTE: this IS cast iron and you will need to properly "season" the pans before you first use them to keep food from sticking.

13-inch Krampouz Tibos Electric Crepe Maker Review

13-inch Krampouz Tibos Electric Crepe Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After 6 months of Sunday Crepe breakfasts for the family I now regularly get excellent Crepes (almost) with this Crepe maker without resorting to the professional Krampouz. As usual you have to practice, practice, practice.
Here are a few recommendations:
Ditch the plastic crepe helper. It's similar to the foaming helpers in Espresso machines, it gets total novices over the initial contact hump but quickly stops you from making any decent progress with the product (Crepe). The tool creates a messy experience and creates uneven crepes.
Second ditch the scraper. It's very hard to get good crepes if you prefer the very liquid kind of dough (which I like). Instead get a round Birchwood scraper. They tend to be larger as well ( 8 inches or so). The round surface allows you to evenly spread the dough ( AMAZON sells them )
Third ditch the spatula. It's simply to short. If you make a real crepe, a really thin crepe the provided spatula will just pierce through the crepe when you lift it to turn or take off the crepe maker. I got a 23 inch Birchwood spatula and am very happy with it.
Fourth: There is no magic to crepe if you follow my advice, use this great crepe maker and practice, practice, practice. I use a simple crepe recipe. You need to play with the temperature and times a bit. My crepes are done within 50s on the first side and 30s for the other side. Experiment and watch videos on the internet.

Little Chief Front Loading Home Electric Smoker Review

Little Chief Front Loading Home Electric Smoker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used a Big Chief for years and decided to leave it at my girlfriends house and pick up a Little Chief. I like the smaller size and also the front loading. I never filled the big chief or even came close so I was heating lots of air. The Little Chief shares its big brothers ability to make some absolutely terrific smoked foods. Chicken and steak smoked and then grilled are awesome. Smoked salmon is my favorite. Very easy, I never mess with brine unless I am smoking bacon or making some sausage. I have used much more expensive smokers and while they are nice they don't make food taste one bit better. This unit would get five stars except it is not as well built as the Big Chief. The metal seems thinner and the racks are kind of flimsy. Would still recommend without hesitation. Also make great gifts. We have given several and they gets lots of use and compliments.

Ronco Inventions ST4000 Showtime Indoor Rotisserie and BBQ Review

Ronco Inventions ST4000 Showtime Indoor Rotisserie and BBQ
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Great product! I have to admit, I'm addicted to kitchen appliances. I love 'em! What separates the Ronco Rotisserie from the others is that I actually use it and use it often.
I purchased mine after seeing the infomercial. To my delight and surprise, it was presented accurately. This makes roasting a breeze, clean up a snap and the results are mouth watering.
For a while, I used it to only roast chicken. As a single, working mother, I'd roast two at a time, intending to use the cooked chicken for chicken salads, Cordon Bleu, curries, sandwiches, etc. throughout the week. Since then, I've cooked just about everything, my favorite now being roast beef. (Marinate the roast in beer overnight, then make a rub with seasoned salt and rosemary, apply liberally. Delicious!)
My included flavor injector doesn't work well, so I don't use it. I've tried injecting lime juice under my chicken's skins and the juice pours out of the injector before I have inserted it into the meat. This may be a defective injector, but I thought it worth mentioning to other consumers.
Also, I have attempted to use the "steamer" located on top of the Rotisserie. The "steamer", in actuality is just a pan which is warmed solely from the heat that the unit emits. Thus, I cannot control its heat and my vegetables have come out too soft for my preference.
Having mentioned heat, I must state that this unit gets HOT. PLEASE use with caution! Unlike the slogan repeated on the informercial, you really cannot "set it and forget it". You MUST monitor your Showtime Rotisserie. There is even a warning upon the window to this effect.
As pleased as I was with my Rotisserie, I recommended it to my sister. We'd both used ours to cook Thanksgiving turkeys. Apparently, she had not trimmed down or tied her wings tightly (you do not have to buy extra meat ties [over priced] from Ronco or inexpensively from your meat market. I use unwaxed, unflavored dental floss with wonderful results). This, combined with the fact that the fat really does copiously drip into the pan at the base of the unit, resulted in a grease fire. The unit and the turkey were salvaged however.
Finally, I share that one of our local news stations (Washington, D.C.) did an in depth investigation on infomercials. Its purpose was to report if products that the infomercials introduced were as easy, practical and effective as they claimed. Its findings were that the ONLY product that was tested and worked as introduced was the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie.
If you follow directions, monitor your unit and do not become careless because of the ease of its use, you will have excellent results.

Vent Register Filters Review

Vent Register Filters
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These filters do exactly what the package claims: "Helps trap dirt, dust, smoke, and pollen size particles." They are not HEPA filters and do not claim to remove all allergens or dust. But it definitely helps, and I figure it can't hurt, especially at a price this low - around $.33/filter!
The filters are easy to install, just remove your vent cover and insert the filter from the bottom. They can be cut to achieve a good fit. After 90 days or so, they can be carefully removed and you will see lots of dust and particles trapped in the filter, on both sides. This system is as effective at keeping particles out of your HVAC system as it is for keeping the system from spreading dust through your home, so I leave them in year round, even though we do not need to use our system in the summer months, just to prevent dust and dirt from entering the ducts. Last summer we did some renovation work. After running the system in the winter after the project, I found that the vents captured a lot of sawdust that had found it's way into the HVAC system. I'm glad these filters were in place - otherwise that sawdust would be spread around my home right now.
You can even reuse the filters, lowering cost of use to near $.15 or even lower - just wash them thoroughly with water, hang dry, and replace.
