(More customer reviews)The problem with grilling hotdogs outdoors on the grill is that the hotdogs either get blackened blisters from being too close to the heat, or they're too hard to turn evenly. The result is a striped hotdog with very well done sections & some barely cooked sections. This gadget allows the hotdogs to rest on/between the metal bars, which get very hot from the heat; the accompanying handle allows the cook to rotate the bars without getting burned. Not as slick as the electric versions one sees at some chain store cafes, but easier on the budget and environment. It's not designed to be used indoors on a very small cooking surface; room is needed to move it. If this caveat is kept in mind, an outdoor cook with guests can expect to have loads of fun. The one down side, as with any product with moving parts, is the cleanup. But unless you're grilling dogs with a lot of fat, such as bratwurst, there is surprisingly little baked on. I gave one to a RV enthusiast who has grandkids; he loved it, so I got one for myself. I believe that the company who makes these are no longer producing them, so one may have to look on eBay for them now.
